Setting up Artwork
We are flexible in the types and formats of files we can receive and work with. We have indicated in this section the best methods of working.
Supplying artwork
Artwork should ideally be supplied in Quark Xpress. Save the file at a quarter size - this allows us to scale up by 400% to achieve the final image size.
Allow at least 5mm of bleed all round the image for trimming and finishing to ensure that your image reaches the panel size required without white edges!
Please supply artwork on a Mac compatible CD, DVD, zip disk, or by ISDN on 028 9050 7902. You can also send artwork via email: mail@iris-colour.co.uk
We can deal with some PC based files, but please contact us to discuss appropriate formats.
Logos and Illustrations
Logos and illustrations should be vector files either Illustrator or Freehand avoiding any pixelation of the image when enlarged to the final size.
Fonts
Please supply all fonts used, both postscript and screen in Mac format.
Linked Files
Please supply all linked files. Avoid embedding these in your document as we cannot edit the file when necessary.
Scans
If you are supplying scans, saved as tiff or EPS, as a guide allow 35Mb per square metre of image at the final printed size. Do NOT apply compression to these files. For example an image at final size A0 (one square metre) would need a 35mb file. Alternatively we can supply scanning services for you.
Layouts and proofs
Please supply a hard copy print / proof along with the job and order details. Alternatively you can send a proof as a pdf by email. We can then check your digital file against the screen version and your proof prior to production
Colour matching
If specific colour matching is required please supply Pantone references for items such as corporate colours e.g. logos, fonts, background colours etc. If you are wishing to match against existing graphics or printed materials then please supply a swatch of the colour, e.g. a brochure cover or colour sample.
Colour limitations
We cannot guarantee a 100% colour match as we are governed by the capabilities of large format printing processes. It is possible to gain very close matches but this might require extra Mac / artwork time and colour test prints.
Please refer to the Pantone reference swatch solid to process which shows the colours achieved by the 4 colour CMYK process when a specific Pantone colour is selected.
Pre-press proofs
If you require a colour or layout proof prior to production please indicate at
the time of your ordering. There may be a charge for pre-press proofs please ask for details. Artwork will be charged per 15minutes.
Artwork services
If you would like us to provide artwork and file preparation services, please include:
Clear instructions and a basic layout of your requirements.
For images to be inserted correctly please indicate position and cropping instructions for each.
If you require text to be added please include which fonts you normally use.
If you are using logos please supply as vector illustrator / freehand EPS files.
Estimates
We will advise of any artwork/design charges prior to commencing the work.
We reserve the right to adjust any estimates given for artwork services when we have received and reviewed the actual job. We will advise if there needs to be an adjustment.
Display System Templates
To assist in your designing artwork / graphics for our display systems such as Pop-up displays and banner stands we can supply templates.
Each individual product displayed on the site should have a graphic size defined.
